The Powerloom Workers’ Union affiliated to the CITU has urged the Centre to exempt powerloom textiles from the purview of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). A resolution passed at the district-level conference of the union held at Ilampillai near here on Sunday said that powerloom industry was already facing many serious problems and bringing it under the purview of GST has only worsened the situation.
